Allison E Asks: Can You Really Clean Your Headlights With Toothpaste?

Well Allison that’s a good question! This is something that I have heard about recently, so with your question I decided to give it a try myself.  Now for those of you who are not familiar with what I am talking about  I will explain. Most of the vehicles today have plastic headlight lens, and over time the road dirt has a “sand blasting effect” on the lenses themselves. When this happens it gives the headlamp lenses a ” cloudy” or hazed appearance. This definitely has a negative effect on the performance or visual clarity that your headlights produce.   So I gave it a shot I used a regular white tooth paste, nothing fancy and dabbed some on a wet  face cloth. I used a circular motion over the entire lens, rinsed and repeated the process several times, and sure enough it worked. With some headlight lenses with extremely bad hazing you may experience minimal results. In this case the lenses may need professional attention to achieve “like new” results.
