2012 Jeep Liberty transmission fluid leak

As you can see from this picture this rusted transmission fluid pan has just started to form a leak due to rust. The transmission pan in this picture is from a 2012 Jeep liberty. I spotted this fluid leak starting on a routine maintenance check at my shop. It is important that                                                                                                                        where ever you may go for a service that your vehicle is being looked over thoroughly otherwise a small leak like this one can turn into a big leak that could cost you a transmission! I told my customer about this she was very grateful that I found it. Her transmission fluid in her jeep was due to be replaced anyway so I told her that it would be no extra charge obviously to replace the pan during that service only the charge for the cost off the part

I’m having trouble locating the dipstick for the transmission fluid for my 2012 Jeep Liberty, only the fill cap in the engine compartment. How do I check the level?

The dipstick for your jeep liberty is considered to be a special tool. Your local parts store I should be able to get one for you. Along with the dipstick comes a graph and it is pretty specific about checking the transmission fluid level at the proper temperature. Transmission fluid expands as it gets hot so it is important that you follow the table supplied with the dipstick. I hope this helps you and thank you for the question!
